"The Curse of the Dacian Gold" is a documentary project that began in 2017, when I set out on a journey alongside journalist and producer Laurian Gherman to explore one of Romania’s most enigmatic and controversial historical topics: the story of the Dacian gold and the many legends, conspiracies, and truths that surround it.
What started as an ambitious investigation soon became a long-term commitment.
After the initial shoot, the project was put on hold for several years. The footage remained in storage, waiting for the right time—and the right people—to help shape it into a complete film. It wasn’t until much later that we returned to it with fresh eyes and renewed energy.
The editing phase marked a turning point. Together with a few close friends—Adriana Crăciunescu, Miche Marcu, and Bogdan Călin—we carefully assembled the story, bringing clarity and emotion to the raw material. Their creative input and dedication were instrumental in shaping the final cut of the documentary.
This film would not have been possible without the help of many others who supported us throughout the process—researchers, collaborators, and those who believed in the story we wanted to tell. To all of them, we offer our heartfelt thanks.
Now, after years of work, "The Curse of the Dacian Gold" is ready to meet its audience. The documentary has entered the international festival circuit and has been submitted to several prestigious events, including The Cannes Film Festival, the Sarajevo Film Festival, and the Bratislava Film Festival, among others.
